24 Hours in A&E airs tonight – a sneak preview of the first episode
The new series of 24 Hours in A&E – which was filmed at the Queen’s Medical Centre- airs tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
The series, which was produced by The Garden TV, was filmed for 47 days straight in autumn 2021 in the hospital’s Emergency Department and tells stories of life, love and loss.
It is the first time the award-wining documentary has been filmed outside of London.
Tonight’s episode follows the stories of those whose lives have changed unexpectedly in an instant and how important it is for them to reflect on that and celebrate the challenges they’ve overcome.
Nottingham born and bred, Sister Lou tells us her story of working at Queen’s Medical Centre for over 30 years and how her life completely changed in her 50s.
45 year old Kirsty has been rushed into QMC after an accident at a fun run. Sister Lou and the emergency medical team face a challenge to ensure her injury is not life altering.
93-year-old John is in resus with shortness of breath. His loving wife, Florence, is by his side while doctors carry out extensive tests. As John is treated, we hear from Florence about their life together, the setbacks they have faced and how lucky they are to have found each other
In the Children’s emergency department, 7-year-old Hunter is with his mum, Sarah, after he fell from a tree. As Hunter’s injuries are assessed and X-rayed, Sarah talks of the initial struggles she faced as new mum, the love she has for Hunter and the happy life she wants to give him.
A total of 24 episodes were filmed for the new series and the first batch of episodes will run every Tuesday for eight weeks on Channel 4 at 9pm.
