Are you a student nurse/midwife in your second or third year of undergraduate study?

Would you like to know what it is like to work as a registered nurse/midwife at NUH?

The day will take place from 10am - 1pm at Post Graduate Education Centre at the City Campus, Nottingham University Hospitals.

All student nurses completing a placement at NUH who attend the event will have the hours added to their placement hours

Early Career Leadership Fellows (ECLF)

Are you passionate about excellence in nursing and midwifery practice?

Do you want to make a difference to practice in your clinical area and develop your own clinical leadership skills?

Would you like to influence the future development of career pathways for Nurses and Midwives at NUH? You will develop your knowledge and actively contribute to raising awareness of an area of practice to ensure the delivery of safe and harm-free fundamental care.

We are seeking 26 motivated early career nurses and midwives to undertake a clinical leadership development opportunity.

Excellence in Care Focus

  • Excellence in skin health and integrity
  • Encourage safer mobility
  • Promote healthier bladder and bowel
  • Optimize nutrition and hydration
  • Dementia Care

Engage, Enthuse and Empower (EEE) Conference

The annual Engage, Enthuse and Empower conference: 'Impact: So What?' will be held on Thursday 13th June this year, with a week of activities planned.

You will hear from key note speakers, and about research, innovations, education and developments happening in practice. There will be an opportunity to view posters, and network throughout the day.

NUH Evidence in Nursing and Midwifery Course (EiNM) 2024

We are delighted to announce the NUH Evidence in Nursing and Midwifery Course (EiNM) 2024.

 

Please could we encourage you to book yourself, or your RNs, midwives, Nursing associates and ODPs onto this clinically focused 3 day training and support programme, plus a half day poster presentation. This course is open to all Registered Nurses, Midwives, Nursing Associates and ODPs and we have 20 places available on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

 

Please note that the content of the course is not suitable for staff who are currently undertaking, or have completed a Master’s programme. This is because as we cover the same topics.

 

The EiNM 2024 course is aimed at Registered Nurses, Midwives, Nursing Associates and Registered Operating Department Practitioners who would like to:

  1. Develop or renew an understanding of literature searching
  2. Take part in short, workshop style sessions that help make sense of the evidence and to use this knowledge to develop a project idea pertinent to their practice
  3. Receive ongoing input while developing their idea and trying out a small-scale project or innovation
  4. Have an opportunity to develop a poster and showcase their project to the Chief Nurse and other nursing colleagues.

LEO Course

The LEO (Leading an Empowered Organisation) Course is a four day leadership programme with three full days of teaching followed by a fourth day where you will be asked to present a very small project in the format of a PowerPoint presentation using the principles you have learnt. 

LEO focuses on empowerment, dignity and mutual respect, aiming to produce strong and efficient leaders. The course will teach you the principles around articulating your expectations, building relationships, leading change and much more.

Full SSSA Training and Preceptor Training

Who is the training for?

This is for any registered healthcare professional - Nursing Associates, Registered Nurse (any field), Midwives, Operating Department Practitioners, AHPs.

What is the training for?

This training is aimed at new Practice Supervisors who will be supporting learners (student nurses, trainee nursing associates, student midwives, and newly registered practitioners) in clinical practice. This training will introduce candidates to the Future Nurse standards and provide them with the information required to support learners in practice effectively. This training will introduce candidates to Preceptorship at NUH.

To gain the Practice Supervisor qualification, candidates must:

  • Attend a taught study day delivered by the Institute Practice Education Team,
  • Complete the five x e-learning activities within the digital workbook via Moodle.

Study hours and mode of delivery

We recommend that candidates have 15 hours of study day in total.

  • 7.5 hours: taught session via MS Teams
  • 7.5 hours: self-directed study day to complete the e-learning activities within the digital workbook via Moodle

**Please note that the independent study day can be given before or after the taught session. The activities within the digital workbook are additional content and information, therefore should not affect the candidate’s ability to complete the activities prior to attending the taught session.**

SSSA Transition Training

Who is the training for?

This training is for any registered professional - Registered Nurse (any field), Midwives, and Operating Department Practitioners who have previously undertaken a NMC approved qualification (ENB 997/998, SLAiP).

What is the training for?

The training will introduce candidates to the new NMC SSSA and the Future Nurse standards.

Study hours and mode of delivery

These taught sessions are 1.5 hours via MS Teams

SSSA Practice Assessor Webinar Sessions

Who is the training for?

This session is for nurses who have previously undertaken a NMC approved SSSA Supervisor Training and possess a Practice Supervisor qualification.

What is the training for?

The training is for existing Practice Supervisors who would like to progress on to become Practice Assessors. The training will include interactive activities and discussions around supporting an underperforming student, difficult conversations, values and behaviours and action planning.
